The Yuba Gallery on Downieville’s Main Street

DOWNIEVILLE —The Sierra County Art Council is pleased to announce the seasonal opening of the Yuba Gallery next door to the Yuba Theatre at 208 Main Street in Downieville. The opening of the Yuba Gallery will be held on the weekend of the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour on Friday, April 5. Will call tickets for the film festival will be available in The Yuba Gallery. The Gallery will be open on weekends from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. until Labor Day when we will be open Thursday through Sunday throughout the summer. The Yuba Gallery features locally made arts and crafts and will act as a community resource for information and advertising of local events and programs.

Among those artists exhibiting in The Yuba Gallery are: Peggy Daigle fiber arts, Lynn Fill fiber arts, Kat Macchia fiber arts, Sharon Mansfield botanical-dyed clothing, Mark Stevenson Photography, Jeff Milliken fine art, Katie O’Hara-Kelly fine art and pastels, B.J. Jordan watercolors, Suzanne Burr fiber arts, Katie Tanner glass, Kelly Loogman jewelry, Tim Iufer gold jewelry, Bob Pearson photography, Steve Fillo woodcraft, Jack Berndt woodcraft and mushrooms, Maggie Rust dancing skeleton multi-media prints and cards, Gail Clemo fiber arts, Cora Dittrich soap, Geoff Scott pottery, Stephanie Aufdermaur pottery and sgraffito, Mary Jungi crafts and acrylic ink art, and Nathan Powell photography. The Gallery now hosts antiques and collectibles from Vintage Gal, Cherry Simi. It also has a small selection of local authors. Owners of the building, Bibi Green and Jeff Champlin, have been very generous in offering the space to the Arts Council with the hopes that the Yuba Gallery will contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of the community.
