BECKWOURTH — Starting Monday, August 18, at 7 AM, Caltrans will implement 24-hour one-way traffic control between Beckwourth and Vinton on State Route (SR) 70 in Plumas County, with the measure ending on Monday, August 25, at 7 PM. Delays of up to six minutes are anticipated. The control is necessary to safely navigate motorists through a temporarily unpaved stretch of roadway.

The Beckwourth Capital Preventive Maintenance paving project is overlaying 24 miles of highway with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) to improve ride quality on SR 70. The project will also install guardrails, pave three currently unpaved pullout areas, and replace, upgrade, or repair 19 existing culverts. Work is expected to be completed in 150 working days, requiring traffic control during the entire period. Completion is expected in the winter of 2025, pending weather, with a total price tag of $21.7 million.
