Cal Fire shared this photo of the affected cattle truck after the fire had been extinguished.
PLACER COUNTY — Cal Fire reports that on February 9, just after 5 PM, Cal Fire and Placer County Department firefighters responded to a commercial vehicle fire on westbound Interstate 80 near Alta. While enroute, personnel received additional information that the vehicle was a cattle truck.
After arriving, Cal Fire Engine 2383 reported an active brake-caused fire on the passenger side of the trailer near the rear axle, and that the truck was occupied with several cattle severely burned. While firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, Cal Fire says multiple cattle succumbed to injuries.
