August 8, 2025
CROMBERG – Caltrans continues work on the Cromberg Combined Rehabilitation project, which will completely restore the roadway, and improve ride quality on State Route (SR) 70 in Plumas County. The project also includes shoulder widening, new guard railing, bridge rail, upgrades to existing ADA facilities, drainage improvements and the addition of numerous safety features.
UPDATE: Starting this week, one-way traffic control is in effect Mon-Friday from 7 AM to 5 PM. Motorists can anticipate Friday traffic control until the fall/winter. During Labor Day weekend, there will be no traffic control within the project limits. Motorists will encounter this traffic control/closure from just south of Little Bear Rd to just south of Forest Ln along SR 70. Delays are expected to extend up to 20 minutes.
Note: 24/7 traffic control may be required on unpaved surfaces, with up to 30 minute delays.
The $101 million project includes 280 working days, with all days requiring traffic control. Night work will be used when feasible and safe. The entire project is expected to be completed by 2026.
Contractor Mercer-Fraser Company, North Region Construction and Caltrans District 2 thank the traveling public and local communities for their patience during the construction of the project.
