Dear Editor,
Congressman Kevin Kiley is apparently supporting the federal hiring freeze passed by Trump, which includes firefighters. Hiring of 15,000 temporary and seasonal firefighters has come to a halt, and even resuming those hirings later could cause long and deadly delays.
We who live in the Sierra foothills could be significantly and catastrophically affected by this hiring freeze. It will impact Democrats, Republicans, and those in the middle equally. Should the worst come to pass, Congressman Kevin Kiley will no doubt blame it on anyone but his own leadership and his own failure to stand up.
This is only one of many ways in which this reckless dismantling of federal services is likely to hurt local residents.
Congressman Kiley, what are you doing to address this problem?
Keep the faith,
Jesse Golden
