PLUMAS COUNTY — State Route 70 has closed between the State Route 89 junction and 1.9 miles east of Big Bend Rd, near Paradise, due to several rockslides. On Saturday, Caltrans District 2 posted on social media that slides remained active. Further, wet weather in the coming days limited their ability to estimate the time to clear the road.
On Sunday morning, Quincy CHP posted that the hillside remained unstable. The CHP estimated that the highway will be closed for at least a week while crews clear debris and stabilize the rock face. Caltrans has no estimated time to reopen. Up-to-date road closure and hazard information is available on the Caltrans Quickmap.
