Zachary Gately updates the Plumas County Board on public meeting dates and locations.
QUINCY — Speaking at the August 12 meeting of the Plumas County Board of Supervisors, Zachary Gately of the County Administrative Office announced a series of public meetings to receive input on the county’s recently-launched strategic planning process.
The meetings will be held August 18, 5:30 PM, in the Indian Valley Academy library in Greenville; August 19, 5:30 PM, at the Almanor Recreation Center in Chester; August 21, 6:30 PM, at the Quincy Veterans’ Hall; August 26, 5:30 PM, at the Mohawk Community Resource Center in Blairsden, and August 26, 7:00 PM, at the Portola Memorial Hall.
The Board voted unanimously to enter into the strategic planning process following an initial presentation by Gately on June 30. He emphasized that while several county departments and programs have specific strategic plans, there is no overall strategic plan for Plumas County government as a whole.
The county’s strategic planning web page (https://www.plumascounty.us/3386/Strategic-Planning) describes a strategic plan as “a long-term roadmap that guides a county’s operations and resource allocation over several years. It outlines the county’s vision, mission, values, and strategic outcomes, translating them into concrete goals and measurable objectives.” An overall strategic plan intends to create transparency and accountability; engage staff and the community; maximize use of resources and connects policy with operations and implementation, according to the web page.
The public meetings announced Tuesday follows a strategic planning workshop for the Board of Supervisors and county department heads that was held July 16 as a special board meeting. Materials from the workshop are available from the strategic planning website.
