Squirrel Fire Quickly Contained East of Quincy

QUINCY — Firefighters responded in the afternoon to the Squirrel Fire. The blaze sits approximately half a mile up Squirrel Creek Road east of Quincy. Officials reported the fire at about 0.6 acres.

The Squirrel Fire reached full containment shortly after the initial response. Agencies on scene included the Quincy Volunteer Fire Department Inc., Long Valley Fire, the Mount Hough Ranger District, and the Plumas Hotshots. Control of the fire and patrol status should occur by evening.

No structures faced threats during the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Dry conditions continue in the area amid unseasonably warm weather. Area residents and visitors are advised to exercise caution with items that could spark wildfires. Suspected wildfires should be immediately reported by calling 9-1-1.
