PIKE — At 11:30 pm on Thursday October 18th a 911 call was received for a wildland fire in Pike. The Pike City Fire Department was first on scene and discovered that it was a structure fire that had escaped into the wildland. The small unoccupied cabin on Glory Hole Road was destroyed before the first units arrived. In addition to the Pike City and Alleghany Fire Depts (Pliocene Ridge CSD) the following agencies provided support: Camptonville Fire Dept, North San Juan FPD and the US Forest Service. Several Cal Fire engines and Washington Ridge hand crews were canceled before arriving on scene. The twenty-five firefighters on scene kept the fire contained at ¼ to ½ acre. All units were back in quarters by 4 the following morning. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
