NEVADA CITY — On July 21, 2025, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) launched a death investigation after an unidentified individual was found deceased on the side of Banner Quaker Hill Rd. in Nevada City, later identified as Adrian Aaron Aaby, 48, of Grass Valley.
Preliminary findings and evidence uncovered by NCSO Major Crime Unit (MCU) detectives suggested Aaby was the victim of homicide. Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified a person of interest as Damon Brice Abraham, 49, of Grass Valley, and obtained both a Ramey arrest warrant for 187 - PC (homicide) and a search warrant.
On Aug. 7, NCSO detectives executed a search warrant of Abraham’s residence in Grass Valley (he was not present at the time). That same day, Abraham was arrested in Sacramento by California State Parks for unrelated charges and booked into Sacramento County Main Jail.
Abraham is under arrest for homicide and will be transferred to Wayne Brown Correctional Facility in Nevada City on a later date.

The case remains under investigation. No further details are available for release.
