“YES ON 50” is the best choice

Voting Yes on Proposition 50 is crucial to counteract political power grabs and protect democracy.

I urge all readers to vote Yes on 50, not because it’s a perfect solution, but because it’s vital that we do all we can to counter Trump’s power grabs.

Every day, President Trump shows us his greedy determination to enrich himself and his friends at our expense, and his hatred and malice towards democratic institutions. We, the people, must STAND UP against his assumption of dictatorship.

Why Yes on 50? Proposition 50 is a response to the outrageous actions of Texas Republicans, who, at Trump’s request, twisted their Congressional district maps to “find” five more Republican seats, hoping to cheat their way to a continuation of Republican rule. We in California can express our opposition to this kind of power play by voting Yes on 50.

Non-partisan redistricting, done every 10 years as mandated by the Constitution, should be the law in all states. In the meantime, let’s do what we must to protect democracy. YES on 50!
