Yuba County Jail Inmate Dies in Custody

MARYSVILLE — The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department says that on Monday, September 8, an inmate at the Yuba County jail died after experiencing a medical emergency within the jail at approximately 12:30 PM. Officers and on-site medical staff began life-saving measures until paramedics and fire personnel took over care of the patient, but the individual was ultimately pronounced deceased.

The inmate was a 39-year-old male, but further identifying information is being withheld while next-of-kin notification is made. The Yuba County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of death following an autopsy and toxicology testing.
