League of Women Voters Press Release
August 14, 2024
The League of Women Voters of El Dorado, Placer, Nevada, Plumas, and Sacramento Counties have joined together to hold a regional candidate forum for the District 3 California Congressional seat, inviting candidates running for the seat in November to introduce themselves to the public and discuss their views on important issues.
Incumbent Congressman Kevin Kiley (R) and contender Jessica Morse (D) were sent invitations, and a response has been requested by August 19.
“Candidate forums are a job interview of sorts, providing critical opportunities for the more than 350,000 voters of District 3 to see in person the candidates seeking their precious votes,” said Jan Bedayn, co-president of the League of Women Voters of Nevada County and organizer of the collaboration. “Candidates are given the opportunity to introduce themselves and their ideas in a neutral format, and voters are able to ask questions about important issues in their communities to determine who the best person is for the job. A win win.
