CLIO — On June 4th, 2025, at White Sulphur Springs Ranch, a group of friends said a final farewell to Paul Bianco, who died on October 4th of last year. It was the anniversary of his birthday in 1946. Paul’s daughter Kayle Martin hosted a celebration of life, which was attended by more than 50 of Paul’s friends. Most of the event occurred outdoors, on the deck overlooking the Mohawk Valley in Clio. The master of ceremonies was Paul Chiavini, Paul’s long-time close friend.
It was appropriate that the festivities were located at White Sulphur Springs Ranch. Paul’s history in Plumas County was well connected to the old ranch site. He owned Graeagle Stables and worked hard to make his customers’ experiences special. Many of his trips included a ride and an overnight stay at the Ranch, which was a bed and breakfast inn at that time.

The event was marked by powerful and touching moments. Jeff Engel, Plumas County Supervisor for District 5, proclaimed this June 4th and every succeeding June 4th Paul Bianco Day in Plumas County. A symbolic “riderless horse” was led by Jeri Nelson, and members of American Legion Post 328 gave a three-volley rifle salute. A flag-folding ceremony and the playing of Taps led to some tears in the eyes of Paul’s friends. There were refreshments served in the dining room of the restored Ranch House. A moving slide show captured the essence of a man who lived fully and inspired many.
