A First-Time Victor at Trivia Game

DOWNIEVILLE — Last Thursday evening, 2/29, saw six teams and ten players vying for points in the 2024 race for the Boomtown Lounge’s Trivia championship, some while sipping homemade soup or tea or wine or beer or eating desserts.

During the game, the eventual winning team, The House (and, incidentally, the host for the game), went from last place in Round 1 to sharing the lead by Round 5, when she answered 4 of 5 questions correctly.

The second-place team, ultimately beaten in a tiebreak, Hansen Bridge, also made a strong rebound from sixth place in Round 2 to tying for first place in Round 3 after sweeping the round (the only team to do so last week).

As for the Yuba Dawgs, floundering in the fourth round didn’t keep him from earning third place. However, this would not have happened if Jackaloper had not faltered slightly in the fourth round.

Both The Good Girls and the DTs, unfortunately, lost their long-shot chances of at least a point by completely running out of gas in Round 6.

Meanwhile, during the tiebreaker session, The House and Hansen Bridge both guessed correctly on the first two questions, and neither guessed the answer on the third. But, when asked to name the British version of Uncle Sam, Hansen Bridge guessed Benjamin Goodfellow and The House went with the correct answer, John Bull.

With the tie broken, The House (Nikki) earned 3 points, 2 points were shared by Scott and Ryan of Hansen Bridge, and Yuba Dawgs (Carl) added 1 point to his 2024 total.
