Another First, Gold Diggers Triumph at Trivia

DOWNIEVILLE — There were no ties to resolve at Boomtown Lounge’s Trivia competition last Thursday, 3/7. Instead, a new entrant in this year's series, the Gold Diggers, a team hailing mostly from Camptonville, held the lead throughout the game and ultimately ran away with the contest by answering 80 percent of the questions correctly. As a result, their final score was 70 points ahead of the runner-up and 100 points higher than the one posted by the previous week's winner.

As for the Yuba Dawgs, they overcame a poor Round 2 score primarily by acing — going 5 for 5 — in Round 4 to a gain a second-place finish.

Pangpeople, another new entrant, also aced Round 4, scrambling their way up from trailing everyone in Round 2 and then matching the leaders scores through the rest of the game to earn the third-place prize (a $5 Cold Rush gift certificate).

Meanwhile, The Evil Twins needed just one more correct answer in the last two rounds to force a tie with the Pangpeople. Alas, the Twins came up short.

Roundtable was also in the running until lagging slightly behind the leaders in Rounds 4 and 5 while The Good Shitz were sabotaged by getting only one correct answer in Round 5.

We’re not sure exactly what transpired with the Holy Terrors but, soon after a disastrous Round 3 dropped them into last place, only one team member was still on the scene when the evening’s game came to a close.
