FOREST CITY – The Forest City Historical Association’s annual AppleFest will bring an apple dessert contest, live music, and a potluck lunch to Forest City on Sunday, October 18. The event runs from 11 AM to 4 PM, according to organizer Cheryl Durrett. All proceeds benefit the historical association.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a dish for the potluck lunch at 1 PM and enter the apple dessert contest. Hot dogs will also be available, along with hand-churned vanilla ice cream. Cider making is planned if apples are available.

Ian Ileson will provide music sponsored by the Sierra County Arts Council. Adam Nuber and Jenifer Bliss of the Felix Gillet Institute will be on hand to identify fruits and nuts.

A presentation on the history of the stamp mill will take place at the mill at noon. Local vendors will sell handmade crafts, and the association will hold a 50/50 raffle and offer other raffle prizes.

Durrett asks visitors to dress warmly and leave dogs at home. For more information, call her at 530-287-3133.
