Press Release by Sierra County Arts Council
March 20, 2024
DOWNIEVILLE —The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is returning to The Yuba Theatre in Downieville on April 5, 6, & 7. This festival is one of the largest and most prestigious mountain festivals in the world! Hot on the heels of the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival that is held every fall in beautiful Banff, Alberta, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour hits the road. With stops planned in over 600 communities and more than 40 countries across the globe, the Banff World Tour celebrates amazing achievements in outdoor storytelling and filmmaking worldwide. The Yuba Theatre is the smallest venue hosting the festival and has done so for over 20 years. From the over 400 entries submitted to the festival each year, award-winners and audience favorites are among the films that are carefully selected to play in theaters around the world. Traveling to remote vistas, analyzing topical environmental issues, and bringing audiences up close and personal with adrenaline-packed action sports, the 2023/2024 World Tour is an exhilarating and provocative exploration of the mountain world. You may enjoy all this adventure for your seat in the historic Yuba Theatre. We are always pleased to welcome back our “road warrior,” who hails from Banff and adds a personal connection to the screenings. Join the Sierra County Arts Council and all our old friends and new ones for a wonderful weekend celebrating mountain culture. The festival will feature films such as Reel Rock 17:DNA, which follows French phenom Seb Bouin as he attempts what may be the single most difficult pitch of rock ever to be established.
