SIERRA CITY — Sierra City will, once again, be the “go-to” destination this summer for live music devotees of all ages. While most folks are familiar with the dynamic Music at the Mine concert series held at the Kentucky Mine Amphitheater, additional live music events are scheduled for the Sierra Pines Resort “meadow” and the Big Springs Garden Retreat. Each of the three venues boasts beautiful yet distinctly unique physical environments and surroundings. You will have the opportunity to attend concerts that feature stellar bands and musicians in venues that inspire musicians and audiences alike.

Kicking off the summer at the Sierra Pines Resort meadow on Sunday, May 25th, will be the “progressive bluegrass” of the increasingly popular regional band, Caltucky. The meadow is over five acres of golf course quality green grass and towering pine trees. Also performing on the meadow this summer will be the Nathan Ignacio Band (July 4th) and the Island of Black and White (August 31st).

“Music at the Mine” will open its season on Saturday, June 21st, with the return of the ever-popular local favorite, Achilles Wheel. Shows in the series are also scheduled for July 19th, August 2nd, and August 16th. The finalized lineup is in the works and will be announced by the first week of June.

Big Springs Garden Retreat, which just last weekend hosted a very joyous and well-attended “Mother’s Day Celtic Celebration,” will be presenting the Rita Hoskings Trio on Friday, July 5th. Big Springs management is currently exploring the idea of offering more events, musical and otherwise, that will be open to the public and add another dimension to its growing success as a meditation and yoga retreat. Expect an additional concert (or two) to be staged later in the summer and fall.

All the summer shows will be well-advertised in social and “old school” media formats. Inquiries and questions can always be directed to Chris Stockdale at (530) 277-6408, cstockrock@gmail.com, or by contacting the respective venue operators.
