Big City Rod Run Returns With a Relaxed Format

SIERRA CITY — The Big City Rod Run car show returned Saturday, September 19, with a relaxed format. An estimated 22 cars participated this year, according to Jim Westfall, who helped run the event.
Organizer Larry Breed had announced the revival last year as a casual gathering open to “anything with a motor,” with free entry and no registration. Friends had persuaded him to bring the show back.

The event began in 2009 with 35 cars, according to Westfall’s 2022 history of the show. Breed and Rick Hertzberg helped start the gathering after finding their businesses kept them too busy to attend car shows elsewhere. Over the years, local businesses sponsored lighthearted awards for their favorite vehicles.
Westfall said another show is anticipated for September 18, 2027, with only a little more structure.
