DOWNIEVILLE - This year’s Brewfest, held on July 23rd, attracted over 600 attendees from far and wide who paid either $30 in advance or $40 at the gate to sample a variety of excellent beers on a pleasantly warm midsummer afternoon. Organizers were particularly pleased by the presence of 12 new home brewers who, collectively, added 36 gallons of beer to the palates of those who enjoy artisanal brews.

Since the festivity’s atmosphere was very jovial, there were no fights, and no DUIs were issued in the wake of the bacchanal. In fact, the free breath analysis tests offered by law enforcement personnel to the festival attendees prior to their departure from the venue proved exceedingly popular. People liked knowing who was qualified to be their group's designated driver.

Meanwhile, mark your calendars, the Downieville Improvement Group who organized this popular fundraising event have already set the date for its return: July 22, 2023.
