According to a recent report by Ballotpedia.org, as of February 6th, 565 candidates had filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run in the 2024 presidential election. Out of this total, 256 declared themselves to free from any political party (Unaffiliated, Independent, or Nonpartisan). The largest bloc of candidates, 156, declared themselves to be Republicans and the second largest set, 82, were Democrats. The list also contained 15 members of the Libertarian Party, 7 from the Independence Party, 4 from the Green Party, 2 from the Peace and Freedom Party, 2 from the Communist Party, and 1 from the Democratic Socialists of America. All are at least 35 years old and natural-born citizens.
