Museum volunteers lunch at La Cocina de Oro.

DOWNIEVILLE — The volunteer docents of the Downieville Museum recently celebrated a successful season with a luncheon at Cocina de Oro. With the museum open Friday through Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day, they hosted 3,366 visitors this season who enjoyed learning about the community’s history. Docents Carol Marshall, David Marshall, and Logan Kinneer were singled out for their continued dedication to the museum.

Attending the luncheon were Jack Marshall, Museum trustee; his wife, Linda; docent Ernie Teague; and guest Frank Sanchez. Also in attendance were volunteer Jan Hamilton, Downieville Parlor NSGW President Stuart Lauters, and museum treasurer Lee Adams. Missing the luncheon were docents Logan Kinneer, Karen Galan, and Liz Fisher, as well as museum trustee Wayne Babros.

The Downieville Museum can only operate due to the dedication of volunteer docents. While years ago we were open seven days a week in the summer, we are now open just three days a week. If you have an interest in local history, we would love to have you volunteer to help us share this resource with locals and visitors alike.
