Feather River College Hosts College and Career Fair

QUINCY — Feather River College (FRC) will host its annual College and Career Fair in Quincy on Thursday, September 24, giving Sierra and Plumas high school juniors and seniors a chance to meet college representatives and local employers. Current FRC students are also invited to explore transfer and career options.

The fair runs from 9:30 AM to noon at the college’s gymnasium and Lower Green, according to its event listing. The campus is at 570 Golden Eagle Avenue.

Students can learn about regional colleges, local industries, and FRC programs and resources. The college’s announcement also describes hands-on activities connected to career and technical education.

Colleges on the posted program include Stanford University; the University of Nevada, Reno; and the University of California campuses at Berkeley, Davis, and Santa Cruz. Career representatives include Plumas District Hospital, the California Highway Patrol, Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship, Caltrans, and the United States Forest Service. The Air Force, Army, and Marines are also listed.

In an August invitation to employers, Gabe Miller, the college’s director of employer partnership, encouraged participants to bring information about job openings and internships, along with displays or equipment that help students understand their work.

High school students will follow schedules by school. Loyalton, Portola, and Chester are in the group scheduled to arrive at the nursing building parking lot at 10 AM. That group’s hands-on session begins at 10:30 AM, followed by the fair inside the gym at 11 AM, lunch at the Perch at 11:30 AM, and a return to buses at noon. Quincy High School and Quincy Charter School are scheduled to arrive at 9:30 AM.

High school students and families should check with their school about participation and transportation arrangements. Current FRC students are invited to attend from 10:30 AM to noon in the gym and on the Lower Green.
