Sierra Hardware in Downieville is temporarily closed while repairs are being made.
DOWNIEVILLE — Sierra Hardware in Downieville experienced flooding on Thanksgiving, forcing a temporary closure. Owner Cindy McCreary shared the following statement:
It is with my sincere apologies that I have to let our community and visitors know that Sierra Hardware will be closed for an unknown amount of time due to cleanup and damage from a flood.
Sometime during the Thanksgiving Day closure, a valve under our utility sink failed, causing water to pour out into the hardware store, flooding the main portion of the store and the office. Currently, there are a number of fans and dehumidifiers running inside the store for the duration of the week, and merchandise and flooded items are scattered throughout the store. At this point, we do NOT know how long we will be closed; it all depends on the necessary repairs to the building.
However, we want to be able to assist our customers on a limited basis, so most days, I will be at the store for approximately an hour at noon to get folks what they need. Another option is that if a person is in dire need of something, they can call 530-289-3582, and an appointment can be set up. I am hoping to be open in front of the hardware store for Holiday on Main from 12 – 2 PM if it can be worked out.
When more is known about how long the closure will be, I will post it on the front door, phone message, and our Facebook page. Thank you for your understanding.
