LAKES BASIN — Around 4:30 PM on Saturday, August 2, Plumas County Search and Rescue (SAR), Graeagle Fire, and Easter Plumas Ambulance responded for an injured hiker near Big Bear Lake in the Lakes Basin area. Plumas County SAR says that the patient had been hiking in a group and became immobile “due to undetermined medical reasons.” The patient was secured in a Stokes basket—a type of stretcher—on a wheel, after which he was transported by foot to an ambulance waiting at the trailhead. Plumas County SAR says it is grateful to all responding parties for the coordinated effort, skills, and equipment, which resulted in a quick and safe patient transport.
