James (Jim) Edwin Astesana, born October 28, 1950, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. He is survived by his sister, Sally Brown of Downieville; his daughter, Sarah Dzioba of Tennessee; his son, Aaron Astesana of Browns Valley; five grandchildren, Bradley, Tyler, Sophia, Victoria, and James; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim graduated from Nevada Union High School, served in the California National Guard during Vietnam (with multiple activations to include the Sacramento munitions explosions). He then started a service station in Auburn, eventually expanding into several. He also ventured into real estate, eventually buying the One Stop Liquor Store. He sold that and invested in a jerky/candy-selling company. Jim’s beloved hobbies included hunting, fishing, and camping, for which he ventured all over the United States. He will be forever missed.
Services will not be held at this time. A small graveside gathering will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Grass Valley, CA, for close family and friends.
