DOWNIEVILLE — Kathy (Epps) Fischer is celebrating 40 years as the owner of Downieville Day Spa in Downieville! The Beauty Salon has been in her family for 60 years, being previously run by her mother, Patty (Reiswig) Gingg, who operated it as La Sierra Beauty Boutique for 20 years. The business was turned over to Fischer in late February of 1985.
“I am honored to serve our community through my beauty business as well as years of volunteer work here in Downieville. I deeply appreciate our community’s support and commitment to keeping Main St. businesses alive here in Downieville,” says Fischer. The salon is also staffed by Kristy Folsom, who has been with the business for 37 years.

Fischer says that she is grateful to have taken care of the community’s beauty needs, from haircuts to color, manicures, and pedicures. She says she has taken care of clients from first haircuts through generations of special occasions and everything in between: “We have served 5 generations of families in our community; we love that we have shared so many life moments with all of you!”
Fischer’s first client, 40 years ago, was Donna Hayes, who remains a loyal customer to this day. The Spa brings “the best of the beauty industry” to Downieville, and continues to evolve with the needs of the community.
“Thank you ALL for supporting me and my business. We look forward to serving you for many years to come!” – Kathy Fischer, downievilledayspa@gmail.com.
