Local Football – 11/6

November 6, 2025

Here are the results for the teams we’ve been following, who had games last week, along with the outlooks for the games they will play this week.

Bear River Bruin: The Bruins finished their regular season on a sour note when they traveled to Antelope and were upset, 30-36, by the Center Cougars last Friday night. However, the Bruins’ season is not over. Tomorrow evening, at 7:00 PM, the team will host the Lindhurst Blazers of Olivehurst in a Sac-Joaquin Section Bowl Game.

Chester Volcanos: Last week, the Volcanos hosted the Burney Raiders and lost, 34-52. Thus, after beginning the 2025 season with a three-game win streak, the team finished the season with seven consecutive defeats and placed last in California’s Division 1 (8-man) conference.

Colfax Falcons: Although the Falcons ended their regular season on 10/24 with a brutal 14-49 loss to the powerful Lincoln Fighting Rhinos, tomorrow at 7:00 PM, the Falcons will face the Burbank Titans in a postseason Sac-Joaquin Section Bowl Game.

Lassen Grizzlies: On Halloween, Susanville’s Grizzlies traveled to play the Yreka Miners and overwhelmed their opponent, 34-3, gaining 182 yards on the ground and 180 through the air while holding the Miners’ total offense to only 163 yards. As a result, whatever the outcome of tomorrow night’s game against Shasta Lake’s Central Valley Falcons is, the Grizzlies have secured first place in their Northern League conference.

Loyalton Grizzlies: When the Grizzlies traveled to play the Plumas Charter Warriors in Greenville on Halloween for their final game of the season, the team’s 22-6 victory earned the Grizzlies second place in California’s Division 1 (8-man) conference.

Modoc Braves: Last Friday, the Braves made a three-hour trip to compete against the Etna Lions, shutting out their weak foe 41-0, while posting 379 offensive yards and holding their foe to only 151 yards. Tomorrow, at home on Senior Night, the Braves will face Weaverville’s Trinity Wolves. While the teams have identical 4-5 season records, last week the Wolves beat the Mt. Shasta 28-24, a team that defeated the Braves two weeks ago. Will playing at home be enough to give the Braves an edge in what promises to be a very competitive game?

Nevada Union Miners: Unfortunately for the Miners, home-field advantage was not enough to overcome the Yuba City Honkers last Friday night; the Miners lost 25-28, finishing their season with a disappointing three-win and six-loss record, placing fifth in the Foothill Valley Conference. Nonetheless, tomorrow at 7:00 PM, the Miners will host the Sacramento High Dragons in a Sac-Joaquin Section Bowl Game.

Placer Hillmen: While D. Sanchez-Harlow averaged 11.1 yards per carry, gaining 188 yards for the Hillmen, the equally impressive rushing attack and superior aerial game displayed by the Roseville Tigers sent Placer to a 23-25 defeat last Thursday night. However, after winning three of their five Foothill Valley Conference games, the Hillmen travel to Manteca tomorrow to play the East Union Lancers in another Sac-Joaquin Section Bowl Game.

Plumas Charter Warriors: In another case where home-field advantage failed to matter, the Warriors ended the season with a 6-22 loss to the Loyalton Grizzlies and placed fifth in California’s Division I (8-man) League.

Portola Tiger: Last week, the Tigers traveled to Palo Cedro for a non-conference game against the Redding Christian Lions. As expected, the Tigers didn’t come close to beating the unbeaten Lions, losing 0-48. Tomorrow night, the Tigers will host their traditional rival, the Quincy Trojans, a team with a slightly better record and ranking on MaxPreps.com.

Quincy Trojans: On the road against the Los Molinos Bulldogs last Friday, the Trojans were held to half as many touchdowns as their Bulldogs and lost, 13-25. This week, the Trojans will travel to Portola and play a team with a very weak defense. The odds of Trojan winning their fourth game of the season are good.

Truckee Wolverines: At the end of the third quarter of their playoff game against the Spring Creek (NV) Spartans last Saturday, the Wolverines trailed by 14 points. However, after their second touchdown in the final quarter, sophomore Seth Molt rushed for a two-point conversion and the Wolverines posted a 22-15 victory. As a result, tomorrow, 11/7, the Wolverines will travel for close to five hours to play the number 1 seed in Nevada’s 3A Northern Playoffs, the Elko Indians. While the Wolverines were the only team in the conference to beat the Indians, 20-14, back in early October, the Indians won their games against both the Fernley Vaqueros and the Churchill Wave—the only teams that outscored the Wolverines this year. Regardless of who wins this contest, the game promises to be a doozy.

Westwood Lumberjacks: After a four-hour journey to play the Happy Camp Indians last Friday evening, the Lumberjacks scored five touchdowns, the most they had scored in a single game all season. Unfortunately, their opponent scored more touchdowns and the Lumberjacks lost their final contest of the 2025 season, 34-48.
