Louis Edward Elder (Lou) was born September 17, 1931, and passed away peacefully at his home on February 13, 2025, to spend Valentine’s Day with the love of his life and wife, Magdalene Elder, in Heaven.
Lou was the youngest of 10 siblings, including longtime Downieville resident Thelma Norton, who preceded him in death. Lou was a proud Clamper, and his work in the local mines landed him a spot in the Downieville Museum.
Lou is survived by his first wife, Arlene Monjar; two daughters, LeighAnn and Miki; 3 Granddaughters, Ashley, Malissa, and Sheena; and three great-grandchildren, Hayden, James, and Amelia.
Lou was a strong soul who was always welcoming and willing to help those in need, even during a 49ers game. He will be missed.
