Big Springs Garden & Retreat Press Release
April 16, 2025
SIERRA CITY — A fusion of traditional, acoustic Celtic folk music and the Big Springs Garden’s “Monet” inspired landscaping, native forest terrain, and vibrant vegetation (think flowering rhododendrons and azaleas) contain all the ingredients to create an enchanting afternoon filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt live music. Musicians from the Nevada County Celtic Session Players will be performing a wide range of authentic “jigs, reels, and ballads” throughout the afternoon for your enjoyment. Imagine a traditional Irish “pub session” being held amidst stunning landscapes and lush greenery in the shadow of the mighty Sierra Buttes.
Your admission to the 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM celebration includes full access to an inviting and substantial array of various salads, exotic cheeses & crackers, miscellaneous appetizers, and perhaps a sweet or two. We will not be serving alcoholic drinks, but you are welcome to bring your own beverages, including beer or wine (spirits/hard alcohol are not permitted).
Admission is $25 for adults, $15 for Moms and $10 for students (aged 12 – 17). Kids 11 and under are free but must be supervised and accompanied by an adult. Payment of either cash or check will be collected at the gate on the day of the event. Due to the pristine nature of Big Springs, we ask that you do not bring your beloved pet dogs.
This event is being made possible through the generosity and enthusiastic support of Sierra City’s Big Springs Garden & Retreat. All the money generated will go directly to the musicians and to cover infrastructure expenses. Contact Chris Stockdale for reservations or information at (530) 277-6408 or cstockrock@gmail.com.
Want to make it a full-day Sierra City experience? Plan on coming to town earlier in the day and enjoying a special Mother’s Day Brunch at Bassett’s Station (530) 862-1297, the Red Moose Café (530) 862-1024 or the Sierra Pines Resort (530) 862-1151. Reservations are highly recommended for the Sierra Pines Resort. Lodging, if desired, can be found on the Sierra County Chamber of Commerce website. Cheers, and hope you can make it to the “Springs”!
