Durgan Bridge on Nevada Street will close only during its Friday, September 25, inspection, scheduled within a 9 AM–3 PM window.
DOWNIEVILLE — Durgan Bridge on Nevada Street will close during an inspection Friday, September 25, temporarily cutting off courthouse access from town. Sierra County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works has scheduled the inspection within a 9 AM–3 PM window.
The department says inspections typically take 30–40 minutes but can last up to two hours. It expects the Durgan Bridge inspection to begin toward the start of the window.
The closure is part of two days of bridge inspections in the Downieville area. On Thursday, September 24, Hansen Bridge on Pearl Street and Mountain House Bridge will have intermittent closures between 10 AM and 4 PM, according to the county’s updated notice. Durgan Bridge will remain open Thursday.
The county had scheduled inspections of all three bridges for August 19, then canceled them the day before.
