NSJ Man Shot in Arm, Police Investigating

NORTH SAN JUAN — Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) detectives are investigating an assault involving a firearm after a 50-year-old man was reportedly shot in the arm and beaten on Sunday May 11, 2025. Deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call just after 9:00 AM from a third-party caller reporting the assault and requesting medical aid to the scene near Tyler Foote Crossing Road and Sages Road for a gunshot wound.

Upon deputies’ arrival in the area, the involved parties had fled the scene, but witnesses remained who provided additional information pertaining to the assault. Upon further investigation, it was learned that a dispute occurred between four acquaintances and escalated to the victim being chased from the suspect’s residence on Tyler Foote Crossing Road and allegedly shot in the arm and struck with a bat by the suspect. After speaking to witnesses, a deputy was able to contact the victim by phone, who agreed to return to the scene.

Upon the victim’s arrival, deputies observed injuries consistent with a gunshot wound to the arm and a laceration to the head. The victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby landing zone for a medical flight to a Sacramento area hospital for emergency treatment, where he remains in stable condition. At this time of this release, the suspect has not yet been located.
