GRASS VALLEY — Hundreds of motorcyclists gathered on Saturday, December 13, for the 34th annual Nevada County Food and Toy Run, a longstanding tradition aimed at supporting families in need during the holiday season. Participants collected new unwrapped toys, gifts, and non-perishable food items, which volunteers later distributed to children and households throughout the county.
The event began at the Eric Rood Administration Center in Nevada City, with riders departing at noon. The parade route passed through downtown Nevada City, proceeded to Grass Valley via Mill Street Plaza, and ended at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, where donations were unloaded. By all accounts, the Toy Run was yet again a great charitable success.
On Tuesday, however, organizers issued a statement on social media regarding reports of unsafe riding. They noted that some individuals had engaged in showboating and burnouts specifically on Mill Street Plaza in Grass Valley.
Organizers described the actions as unacceptable, explaining that route access through the plaza is a privilege arranged in cooperation with the city. Such conduct raises concerns about potential property damage and safety risks, which could affect permission for future events.
The statement called on anyone involved, or who knows those involved, to contact organizer Eric at (530) 277-5004. Contact would allow the situation to be addressed responsibly, including assistance with any necessary cleanup.
Organizers stressed that the toy run centers on community giving and urged all participants to maintain respectful, safe, and lawful conduct. They expressed appreciation for the many riders who represented the event and the motorcycle community positively.
