Claiming it was a vintage year, a group of Plumas County residents all born in 1934 will be celebrating their group's 89th birthday at 1 pm on Sunday, 20 August at the Meadow Valley home of John and Betty Gallagher. The 1934 Party was originated 29 years ago by Quincy's Bob Melms. The concept was set-up and developed by Melm's to bring together all demographic and socioeconomic elements of Plumas County having been born that year. Born in the Depression and raised during World War Il the individuals in the group closely identify with each other, regardless of where they were born in the U.S. as their generation encountered a common set of challenges that developed within each of them a drive, enthusiasm, and self-discipline that resulted in the development of a common set of core values. Interestingly, the party has grown to become something of a tradition among married couples where one or both of the spouses was born in 34 and among singles who also celebrate 1934 as the year of their nativity. The 1934 Party is open to anyone born during that year and their spouse or friend! The Party this year will feature Roast Beef, Turkey, and Ham Sandwiches, Plus Several Salads, and Lemonade, and of course a Birthday Cake. All the fix'ns will be supplied for the Party, so all you have to do is show up! Please be sure to bring a Birthday gift for the exchange if you wish to participate..... This is always great fun! Last year's 1934 Party was the best ever with participants from all over Northern California and Nevada, so don't miss out on this year's wonderful and rewarding event. For information or directions contact John or Betty Gallagher at (530) 283-2243.
