Plumas Drug Investigations Yield Seven Arrests, 288 Grams Seized
Recent sheriff’s investigations across Plumas County uncovered methamphetamine and cocaine in multiple traffic and home searches.

PLUMAS COUNTY — Plumas County Sheriff’s Office deputies carried out several drug investigations over the past few weeks. The efforts led to seven arrests and the seizure of approximately 288 grams of controlled substances.
On the evening of February 25, a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the Beckwourth area. The stop resulted in the arrest of Wade Deberg of Chilcoot. Deputies searched Deberg and his vehicle, finding methamphetamine along with evidence of further criminal activity. Officers served a search warrant at his residence and recovered additional methamphetamine and several firearms, including an “AK-47” style rifle. About 30 grams of methamphetamine were seized during the investigation.
Around 6:30 PM on March 5, a deputy stopped a vehicle in Portola after observing a moving violation. Occupants Jonathon Pope and Eric Holmes, both of Portola, appeared under the influence. Deputies arrested both men. A search uncovered nearly 200 grams of methamphetamine hidden in Pope’s possessions.
Deputies made contact with three Sacramento-area residents in a vehicle parked suspiciously on Highway 70 outside Portola around 10:00 PM on March 7. One person had an outstanding warrant. The other two admitted to possessing and using methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Officers arrested Monica Baca, Benjamin Hollcroft, and Jeffery Burkhart after seizing approximately 43 grams of methamphetamine and multiple items of paraphernalia.
Around 9:00 PM on March 13, a deputy assisted probation officers with a check at Angelique DeCrona’s home in Quincy. Evidence of narcotic and alcohol use was quickly discovered. Investigators found about 15 grams of cocaine during the search. Deputies arrested DeCrona on drug and child endangerment charges.
The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office forwarded all cases to the District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution. The office clarified in a press release detailing the arrests that parties remain innocent until proven guilty in court.
