QUINCY — The Plumas National Forest is currently seeking volunteer campground hosts for the summer of 2024 near scenic and popular lakes on the Forest. Volunteers are asked to apply by April 30.

On the Feather River Ranger District, Little Grass Valley Reservoir is seeking camp hosts for Red Feather and Wyandotte campgrounds near La Porte. Please contact the Feather River Ranger District at 530-534-6500 for more information.

On the Beckwourth Ranger District, in the Lakes Basin Recreation Area, Gold Lake OHV4x4 Campground offers a more rugged experience on Gold Lake, accessed by OHV trail or boating in. Please contact the Beckwourth Ranger District at 530-836-2575 for more information.

Campground hosts are in place for the recreation season starting in late May or early June through late September or early October.

The most important job of a campground host is to provide an enjoyable camping experience for the public. Hosts are expected to assist visitors with information about the campground and local recreation opportunities. They must work well with people, be personable, maintain a neat appearance and be physically able to perform the following tasks:

Welcoming visitors, explaining rules to campers and answering questions.

Light campground maintenance.

Stock restrooms.

Communicate site maintenance needs to Forest Service staff.

For Little Grass Valley Reservoir, volunteers must provide their own self-contained RV or trailer and personal vehicle. The Forest Service will provide a campsite, propane and a generator.

Gold Lake 4x4 Campground is more rugged, with camping space provided.
