QUINCY — The Plumas National Forest has announced that pile burning operations are underway on the Beckwourth and Feather River Ranger Districts. Approximately 50 acres of large machine piles are set to be burned in the Conklin Park and Lake Davis Recreation Areas, with 20 acres in Conklin Park and 30 acres at Lake Davis. Another 80 acres of piles are planned for treatment on the Feather River Ranger District in the Little Grass Valley Recreation Area, between Horse Camp and Little Beaver Campgrounds.

All sites slated for burning have received recent precipitation, which should aid in the operations. Smoke will likely be visible near the burn areas, but no long-term impacts to nearby communities are anticipated. Visibility on roads in the project areas may be reduced, particularly during early morning or late evening hours when smoke tends to settle. Traffic from firefighting equipment will increase on roads near the burn sites. Drivers should exercise caution in those locations.
