QUINCY — Plumas National Forest (PNF) announced last week that it is opening hiring for this year’s recreation season and encouraging local residents to apply.

PNF is recruiting for a variety of seasonal positions, including:

  • Recreation and visitor services;

  • Trail and facility maintenance;

  • Active resource management, including timber and range.

Forest Supervisor Laura Schweitzer said in a press release, “Our seasonal employees are the backbone of summer operations—keeping our campgrounds, trails, and recreation sites open, safe and welcoming for visitors…These positions offer meaningful work, hands-on experience, and the chance to support public lands close to home."

Seasonal employees will help improve trails, campgrounds, and facilities for safe, reliable, and enjoyable recreation experiences. Some positions will be supporting timber and range programs as part of active resource management activities. These positions are in addition to hiring for seasonal firefighters, which has already begun.

The application period for these positions is expected to run from February 20 through March 3. Interested individuals can apply on USAJOBS.gov.
