Plumas-Sierra County Fair Returns

QUINCY — The Plumas Sierra County Fair will return to Quincy this weekend from Thursday, July 25th, through Sunday, July 28th. The annual fair has the theme “Mountains of Memories” this year, with organizers encouraging attendees to bring their cameras for several photo opportunities. Aside from the photo-ops, new events include open horse and poultry shows. The fair will open at noon each day.

The fair will officially open on Thursday with a special lunch for seniors, followed by the 2:00 p.m. opening of the carnival, then the Open Western and English Horse Show at 5:00 p.m. Friday kicks off with a Hog Calling Contest and Gymkhana at 5:00 p.m., then a Leadline competition at 7:00 p.m. Saturday will feature a parade through downtown Quincy at 10:00 a.m. There will be a Small Animal round-robin at 1:00 p.m. and motorcycle racing in the grandstands at 7:00 p.m.

Of course, the usual exhibits will be displayed throughout the weekend. Examples include the Art Barn (Photography and Arts & Crafts), Floriculture and Agriculture, Home Arts, Livestock, and several exhibits by 4H and Future Farmers of America members. A full exhibit guide is available here.
