PORTOLA — In connection with a discussion of local electricity rates at the October 14 meeting of the Portola City Council, city officials asked Liberty Utilities to organize a public meeting where senior company representatives would be available to explain recent changes in rates, assistance programs, and the upcoming transition in power sources, and to answer residents’ questions and concerns about those issues.

A notice posted on the City website and circulated by email indicates that the requested meeting has been scheduled for 6 – 8 PM on November 12, at Portola Veterans Memorial Hall (449 West Sierra Avenue in Portola). Liberty said in the announcement that company staff will be available to share information about electric rates, answer questions, and help residents enroll in assistance programs. Individuals with questions about their accounts are advised to bring a recent bill. The announcement also notes that the meeting is a Liberty event and is not organized or hosted by the City.
