DOWNIEVILLE — Goodyears Bar resident and Downieville regular Gil Clark was officially reported missing on Thursday, August 14, after concerned citizens contacted the Sheriff’s Office earlier in the week. Following the report, Sierra County Sheriff Mike Fisher indicated the office conducted a ground search along Highway 49 between Downieville and Goodyears Bar with the assistance of Nevada County Search and Rescue. The area was also overflown by California Highway Patrol Air Operations in hopes of locating Clark or any potential clues.
Unfortunately, no definitive answers have emerged, although the Sheriff’s Office continues to actively investigate the disappearance. “The Sheriff’s Office continues to follow up on all leads, though they have been limited,” wrote Fisher.
