Sheriff Mike Fisher
WASHINGTON — Sierra County Sheriff Mike Fisher has once again made his mark, being inducted into the prestigious 3rd Congressional District Police Honor Roll in Washington, D.C. This recognition, for the second year in a row, underscores his exceptional service and dedication to the community.
On June 4th, United States Representative Kevin Kiley (R-CA) delivered a speech, shedding light on the multifaceted role of Sheriff Fisher, stating, “As a Sheriff in a small rural community, Sheriff Fisher wears many different hats. He runs the office, deals with budgets, deals with recruitment and hiring, and is head of the Office of Emergency Services.” Kiley also commented on Fisher’s accessibility to all the constituents within Sierra County: “He is approachable, responsive, and cares deeply about all members of the community.”
With public safety at the top of the Sheriff’s priorities, Kiley praised Fisher’s efforts in handling wildfire threats and public evacuations and championing the needed “landline” in these rural parts. Viewing the remarks, locals could add, “...and all the bear issues!” Fisher’s long track record of positive relations and collaboration with outside agencies to get the job done is another reason the accolades are quite fitting.
