Monday, June 30

07:43 - Loyalton Fire Department assistance requested.

08:48 - Fire alarm in Downieville.

11:16 - Bear problem reported in Downieville.

16:32 - Accidental 911 call from Loyalton.

18:38 - Ambulance requested in Downieville.

18:58 - Report of juveniles riding electric scooters on the highway in Sierra City. CHP was notified due to the highway being busy and the subjects not wearing helmets.

19:35 - Ambulance requested in Sierraville.

20:49 - A deputy spotted possible smoke coming from a Loyalton ranch, but it turned out to be steam.

21:38 - A possibly lost juvenile called 911 from the Pike area but hung up before more information could be gathered. A deputy searched the area but couldn’t locate anyone.

Tuesday, July 1

01:12 - A deputy cleared rocks from Highway 49 near Gold Point Ravine.

04:25 - Fire alarm activation at the Downieville School. The Fire Department responded but couldn’t find anything.

07:28 - Civil service requested in Loyalton.

07:38 - Information provided to the Sheriff’s Office from Loyalton.

11:14 - Property lost in Downieville.

11:39 - Someone needed a signature on a fix-it ticket.

14:57 - Possible illegal dumping on Forest Service property.

Wednesday, July 2

08:56 - Ambulance requested in Loyalton. The patient was released against medical advice.

12:38 - The United States and California flags were reportedly stolen from Sierra County Probation in Loyalton.

14:18 - Possible drunk driver in the Goodyears Bar area. The Highway Patrol could not locate one.

14:27 - Injured antelope on the A24 road. The Susanville Highway Patrol was notified.

16:06 - Plumas County received an open 911 call from near the Sierra Buttes Lookout Tower, which was then transferred to Sierra County. The Sheriff’s Office attempted to contact the caller without success.

17:11 - Sierra County Probation requested assistance from the Sheriff’s Office for a family disturbance.

17:17 - Crying dog reported in Loyalton, but deputies were unable to locate one.

17:31 - False activation of a burglary alarm in Loyalton.

18:01 - Juveniles were reportedly throwing rocks at the power substation in Loyalton, but deputies couldn’t find them.

18:39 - A caller wanted to get in contact with the Tahoe Forest Service to reserve a campsite. The Sheriff’s Office facilitated the communication.

19:51 - A bear was roaming around, eating berries, and sleeping in trees near Pike. No property damage or human threat reported.

21:35 - Ambulance requested for a family member of the requester in Verdi. The family member ended up not wanting assistance, so services were canceled.

21:51 - Someone needed a vehicle towed from between Sierra City and Bassetts on Highway 49. The Sheriff’s Office facilitated a tow that the caller agreed to accept and pay for, but then ended up contacting a different tow company while the first was en route. The driver that the Sheriff’s Office facilitated arrived to find the vehicle was already being towed to the owner’s residence.

22:36 - The Sheriff’s Office received a report from the Tahoe Forest Hospital of a dog bite that occurred within the county. A deputy made contact with the involved parties and generated a report.

Thursday, July 3

04:05 - Someone was arrested in Loyalton for public intoxication.

07:18 - Possible brandishing of a firearm at Logger Campground. A report was taken.

07:44 - Ongoing bear problem in Verdi. Fish and Wildlife was notified.

08:08 - Civil service attempted without success in Loyalton.

08:23 - Welfare check requested in Loyalton. A caregiver was contacted, and the subject was okay.

16:38 - Downed tree blocking both lanes of traffic on Highway 49 near Downieville. Caltrans was contacted and cleared the tree.

16:41 - Juveniles reportedly causing a traffic hazard in Downieville were admonished by the Highway Patrol.

17:47 - A deputy requested a call be pulled for informational purposes.

18:09 - Illegal camping on a private commercial property in Calpine.

18:37 - Several vehicles were being driven recklessly in Loyalton. A deputy made contact and told the drivers to stop. Extra patrol was conducted.

19:31 - Disabled vehicle on the shoulder of Highway 49 near Sierraville. The driver said a tow would be arranged in a few days.

20:36 - Report of a possibly abused dog in Loyalton.

Friday, July 4

07:52 - A written warning was issued to a dog owner in Calpine after the dog had been at large and had bitten another dog.

08:08 - Sierra County Deputies participated in the Loyalton 4th of July parade.

11:12 - Sierra County Deputies and Sacramento Highway Patrol participated in the Downieville 4th of July parade and assisted with traffic control.

13:22 - An iPhone notified the Sheriff’s Office via satellite of a potential drowning victim near Webber Lake. Emergency services were unable to locate anyone.

14:37 - Deputies assisted the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office and others with 4th of July festivities at Donner Lake.

18:37 - Disabled vehicle on Gold Lake Road. The occupants were given a ride to their cabin.

19:13 - Welfare check requested in Verdi.

20:26 - A caller reported bovines in the roadway near Loyalton, but while the call was ongoing, it was determined that they were actually behind a fence and not in the roadway. A Sheriff’s Office response was not necessary.

20:41 - A deputy found illegal campers along Highway 49 near Sierra City. They were admonished and told where they could camp legally.

20:51 - A deputy came across possibly illegal campers with an illegal campfire. It turned out that the property was private, and the camping was okay, but the campers were still admonished for the campfire.

21:50 - The Sheriff found illegal campfires near Hoke Valley. The Tahoe Forest Service and Sheriff educated the involved parties on current fire restrictions.

22:24 - More illegal camping, this time at Convict Flat.

22:31 - A caller needed assistance for a family member in the Pasadena area. The Sheriff’s Office gave the caller two numbers for the Police there.

23:46 - The Sheriff found an injured deer on Highway 89 near Sierraville. The deer was dispatched and removed from the highway.

Saturday, July 5

10:00 - A 911 call dropped from Goodyears Bar. Deputies attempted to make contact at the residence from which the call came, but determined it was unoccupied.

10:28 - Report of illegal campfires at Deer Lake. The Forest Service was notified.

10:50 - A welfare check in Loyalton was requested, but it turned out the subject only wanted information.

11:19 - Ambulance requested at Lake of the Woods.

13:35 - Ambulance requested for a motorcycle crash near Sattley.

15:12 - Sierra County Fire requested an ambulance response for a medical situation in Calpine.

16:04 - Child custody dispute in Loyalton.

19:11 - Active domestic violence incident at Lookout Campground. The parties were separated by another camper before deputies and the Highway Patrol arrived. After an investigation, one was arrested for domestic battery.

21:04 - Ambulance requested in Downieville.

Sunday, July 6

05:31 - Someone was arrested for a probation violation and booked into Wayne Brown Correctional Facility.

12:10 - Report of someone possibly hunting with dogs near Forest.

15:52 - Lost property in Sierra City.

16:16 - Documentation of a deputy transporting cash in the Truckee area.

17:54 - Report of an abandoned vehicle in Sierra Brooks.

18:34 - Vehicle accident in the Loyalton Leonard’s parking lot. A deputy responded and took a report.

23:02 - Accidental 911 call from Sierra City.
