07:41 - A group of baby possums, whose mother had died, was found by detective Rachel Wheeler. The possums were transferred to a wildlife rehabilitation center.

08:03 - Report of a disabled vehicle on Highway 49 near Sierra City.

08:14 - In Sierraville, one was arrested for violating probation, and another was arrested for disobeying a court order.

12:36 - Backhoe reported missing from a mining claim near Downieville. The case is being investigated.

13:22 - A wallet was found in the Visitors Center bathroom in Downieville and turned in to the Sheriff’s Office. The owner later retrieved it.

16:25 - Report of a wolf attack on cattle near Sattley.

18:38 - “Information given on a group of people who frequent the area of Dog Valley Road behind Bordertown.”

19:24 - Single vehicle roll-over crash on Highway 49 just outside of Downieville.

07:19 - Report of a bear locked in a vehicle in Calpine.

Thursday, July 24

07:59 - Inmates transported from the Nevada County jail for Sierra County court.

12:04 - Dog bite in Downieville. No information about the owner or the dog’s location was available. The Health Department was notified.

14:24 - Wolf problem reported in the Sierra Valley. Fish and Wildlife notified.

15:58 - Someone was arrested in Washoe County, Nevada, on a Sierra County warrant for disobeying a court order. The person was extradited to the Nevada County Jail.

18:44 - Report of an abandoned vehicle and possible “encampment incident.” It was determined that the incident was in Nevada County, so the caller was informed about applicable laws, and the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office was notified.

19:13 - Report of someone walking on Highway 49 north of Loyalton and “causing a scene.” Susanville Highway Patrol located the person and provided a ride home. Sierra County Behavioral Health is following up with the individual.

22:24 - Ambulance requested in Loyalton.

Friday, July 25

08:25 - Report of a possible wolf kill of a calf on a Sierra Valley ranch. Because of the poor condition of the carcass, the cause of death could not be determined.

09:13 - Sierra City emergency alert and evacuation alarm was accidentally activated by Downieville Fire dispatch, generating numerous calls to the Sheriff’s Office by concerned residents and visitors.

10:45 - Confirmed wolf depredation of a cow on a Sierra Valley ranch. Fish and Wildlife was notified.

10:46 - Possible wolf depredation of a cow near Sattley was found not to be a wolf problem.

11:20 - Welfare check requested in Loyalton, but the provided address could not be located.

11:25 - Report of a family disturbance and civil issue in Loyalton.

13:29 - Investigation conducted regarding a possible sex offense at the Emigrant Group Campground at Stampede Reservoir.

14:33 - Complaint of juveniles on dirt bikes in Loyalton. The Sheriff’s Office could not locate them.

15:56 - Deputies conducted patrol during the Plumas-Sierra County Fair in Quincy.

16:18 - Report of suspicious men knocking on doors in Downieville and demanding entry. No descriptive information could be obtained from the caller.

09:36 - Drug-related arrest in Downieville.

11:57 - Livestock kill in the Sierra Valley turned out not to be wolf-caused.

11:59 - Report of a woman “slumped over” in a vehicle in Downieville. Emergency responders were unable to locate the individual.

14:08 - Report of a vehicle blocking entry and exit to the Downieville pizza parlor parking lot. Sacramento Highway Patrol was notified.

18:36 - Report of a semi truck driver going slowly and not yielding when more than five vehicles were behind. The truck had a top-heavy load and was being driven by a properly licensed commercial driver.

18:55 - Ambulance requested in Downieville.

19:38 - Someone was assisted with information about mining claim rights near Cal-Ida.

20:18 - Report of logs purposely blocking a street in Pike. Sacramento Highway Patrol was notified.

20:39 - Report of illegal camping along Highway 49 near Big Springs. A deputy admonished the campers, and they moved along.

Sunday, July 27

08:25 - Report of a wolf attack on cattle on a Sierra Valley ranch.

15:38 - Lightning caused a small fire in the Dog Valley area. Multiple agencies responded and extinguished it.

15:44 - Mental health issue in Loyalton.

17:27 - Report that parties were overdue and may have been camping near Siaerra City. Campsites were checked, but the subjects were not located.

20:04 - Report that a bear had returned multiple times to a Calpine property. Fish and Wildlife was notified.

21:17 - Report of a bear on a Calpine property. Fish and Wildlife was notified.
