Sierra County Board of Supervisors Meeting of June 7

Supervisor Peter Huebner belatedly reading U.S. Senator Diane Feinstein's 2013 commendation of Tim Beals to the recipient of her award. DOWNIEVILLE - During Tuesday morning's session, the Supervisors railed against the USFS for failing to reopen several campgrounds in the North Yuba River canyon and for adopting a "pack it in, pack it out" policy leaving many Lakes Basin facilities without garbage bins. The Board also approved new rules for managing the Sierra Brooks water system, a contract with a construction management firm for a guardrail replacement project funded by Highway Safety Improvement Program, and acceptance of a federal grant for funding a Disease Intervention Specialist position at the Public Health Department. They also heard good news about the USDA adding funding to the Downieville Community Hall Renovation Project, a move possibly allowing repair work at the Calpine Community Hall.
