The snow is gone, flowers and trees are blooming, wildlife are returning and here in Sierra City we are ready to kick off a summer of live music concerts and community events. Home to the premier music venue in the area, the Kentucky Mine amphitheater, Music at the Mine will open the summer series on June 24 and feature two outstanding regional musical acts, 86 Proof and rising star Kyle Ledson and his incredible band, Broken Compass Bluegrass.

Musical offerings beyond the Music at the Mine concert series are also planned and on the Sunday afternoon of May 28th, Dust in My Coffee and Juliet Gobert will perform in the Sierra Pine’s Resort beautiful, lush green meadow. This is our first designated concert in the “meadow” and music fans can expect more to follow in both the immediate and long-range future. Two individual annual events, Summerfest at the Mine, June 11th, and our second annual 4th of July community celebration are booked with great entertainment and varied activities. Both events are family friendly and are free to the public.

All the specific Sierra City events held over the summer will be advertised in The Mountain Messenger and posted on the Sierra County Historical Society and Sierra Arts Council’s respective websites. Promotional flyers will be regularly posted in a timely manner throughout Sierra and Plumas counties.
