Summerfest at the Mine 2022

August 8, 2022

On Sunday afternoon, June 12th from Noon - 4:00 PM, the Sierra County Historical Society and Music at the Mine will host the annual community celebration, "SummerFest", at the Kentucky Mine Park and Museum. The event is sponsored and financed by the Sierra City business community, Music at the Mine and the Sierra County Arts Council. As a result of their financial support, the day's entertainment and gastronomical treats will be "on the house". A "$10 Burger & Dog BBQ" lunch will be offered but you can also bring your own picnic meals if you so desire.

The afternoon's free entertainment includes a "roaming Magician" who will perform tricks and illusions during the BBQ lunch hour, face painting for both kids and adults and book signings by authors who have penned accounts of Sierra County's history. Docent lead Mine tours will be offered at 1, 2 and 3 PM and, again, the tours will be free of cost.

The climax of the afternoon will take place in the amphitheater where Joshua Logan, the aforementioned magician, will perform a formal stage show that will stun and amaze the crowd. One-Eyed Reilly will add their musical magic to the mix and perform a 90 minute concert of classic Irish tunes and up-tempo contemporary folk-rock songs with a definitive Celtic flair. An ice cream sundae bar, fresh popped popcorn and lemonade will be available for those who elect to enjoy the magic and musical offerings that will close out the day's festivities in the famed Kentucky Mine Amphitheater. Everyone is welcome, so come on out to what will be a grand afternoon!
