Thank You Packer Lake Fish Day Partners

August 3, 2023

Thanks for making our 24th annual Packer Lake Fish Day another successful day of fishing. The California Department of Fish and Game stocked Packer Lake with 2,000 lbs. of trout, and CDFW Biologist Amber Mouser and her family tagged 100 fish for the event. The children caught more than 65 fish, three tagged fish won $20 each to their successful anglers. Everyone was entertained by the Forest Service, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the South Yuba River Citizens League at the many activity and display tables, making fish-print T-shirts and paper fishes, and taking pictures with Smokey the Bear and Frank and Francis Fish! The Sierra County Fish and Wildlife Commission gave every child a raffle prize at the end. Special thanks go to Logan and Levi O’Donnell for their expert angling skills that enabled them to catch enough bluegill for the fish printing, and to all of the many Yuba River Ranger District and Tahoe National Forest employees, Engine 32, Bassett’s Station, Sierra Hardware, Sierra Country Store, Gia and Joe Jimenez, Sylvia Lopez Ostrom and Camille Lopez for contributing your time, equipment, and supplies to this community event.
