Sierraville’s respected timber faller, Willy Diltz, passes at 69; celebration of life on March 8.

William (Willy) Diltz, age 69, passed away at his home in Sierraville on February 23, 2025.
Willy was born October 2, 1955, in Loyalton to LaVerne and Beverly Diltz. Willy lived nearly every day of his life on Diltz Mountain in Sierraville. There, he grew up alongside siblings Susan, Jackie, Patty, Sharon, and Tim. He attended Sierraville and Loyalton Schools. Willy married the love of his life, Linda Taylor, on June 24, 1978. They were married for 47 years. Willy and Linda made their home together on Diltz Mountain along with their children, Sallie, Kimberlyn, and Westen.
Willy worked in the woods as a highly skilled and respected timber faller. In his free time, he was an avid waterfowl and upland game hunter. Willy was a founding member of the Sierra Valley Sportsman’s Club and a gifted marksman.
Willy was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be missed.
A celebration of life will be held at Sierraville School on March 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM. A light lunch will be provided afterward.
